Self-care can be hard to do, I think. There are so many things on your to-do list that typically the things that you need to do for you get pushed to the bottom or forgotten.

I have been taking full advantage of self-care while in this COVID-19 quarantine. That includes face masks. Lots and lots of face masks. I must admit, I feel a bit ridiculous mashing foods together and then smearing it all over my face. Maybe I’m delirious, but at least I’m glowing like an angel! 😉

Here are 5 different face mask recipes that you can make with items you most likely have on-hand. The recipes target different skin needs, but all of them are very gentle. Choose a mask that fits your needs and enjoy!

HYDRATION

  • 1/2 an avocado (vitamins A, D, and E – extremely moisturizing)
  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey (antibacterial, antioxidants, antiseptic)
  • A handful of oats (fights dryness/roughness, soothing, reduces inflammation)

UNEVENNESS TEXTURE/TONE

  • 1 Tablespoon natural, plain Greek yogurt (lactic acid and enzymes – makes a visible difference to your skin by lifting away rough, lacklustre surface cells to uncover much newer, brighter ones)
  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey (antibacterial, antioxidants, antiseptic)
  • 1 Tablespoon turmeric powder (curcumin – the active ingredient that will help diminish dark spots, scarring, and reduce inflammation)

BLEMISHES

  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey (antibacterial, antioxidants, antiseptic)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (curcumin – the active ingredient that will help diminish dark spots, scarring, and reduce inflammation)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dead Sea salt (antiseptic – cleans wounds and promotes quick healing)

MINIMIZE PORES

  • 1 egg white (protein – tightens the skin)
  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey (antibacterial, antioxidants, antiseptic)
  • A little squeeze of lemon juice (skin astringent and vitamin C – tightens pores and fights free radicals)

COMBAT OIL

  • 1/2 an avocado (polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols – extremely nourishing/moisturizing while absorbing excess sebum)
  • 1/4 cucumber, blended (cooling, astringent, and soothing)

DIRECTIONS FOR ALL MASKS: Combine ingredients thoroughly in a bowl. Put the delicious mix all over your face and leave on for at least 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and gently pat dry.

Note: use the mask within an hour of making it. The active ingredients can become diminished and bacteria from the air can pollute your mask.

It is important to remember to be joyful in this scary and uncertain time. Take care of yourself spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I am confident that we will all come out stronger on the other side.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay glowing! ♥

Cheers, AH
